Tails include Thunderbird per:

• Leggere e scrivere email
• Leggere feed RSS e Atom da siti d'informazione e blog

To start Thunderbird choose Applications ▸ Internet ▸ Thunderbird.

Configura una casella di posta

1. Quando si avvia Thunderbird per la prima volta, compare un assistente per guidarti attraverso il processo di configurazione di Thunderbird per accedere al tuo account di posta elettronica.

   To start this assistant again in the future from the main window of Thunderbird, choose  ▸ Account Settings and then, from the Account Settings dialog, choose Account Actions ▸ Add Mail Account….

2. Scrivi il tuo nome, indirizzo email e password nei relativi campi.

3. Clicca Continua.

4. L'assistente cerca di configurare automaticamente le impostazioni corrette per connettersi al tuo provider di posta elettronica in base al tuo indirizzo e-mail.

   Se la configurazione automatica non riesce, consulta il tuo provider di posta elettronica per configurare manualmente il tuo account di posta.

   Configurare un account con Gmail

   Se usi Gmail, prima devi configurare il tuo account per consentire l'accesso da altri client di posta elettronica, come Thunderbird.

   Per configurare il tuo account Gmail e consentire l'accesso da Thunderbird, è necessario:

   1. Abilita IMAP o POP. Vedi Gmail Help: Controlla Gmail tramite altre piattaforme di posta elettronica.
   2. Passa alla verifica in due passaggi. Vedi Google Account Help: 2-Step Verification.
   3. Crea una password per l'applicazione. Vedi Gmail Help: Accedi con la password dell'applicazione.
   4. Usa la password dell'applicazione con Thunderbird.

5. Se la configurazione automatica ha successo, potrebbe essere necessario specificare quale protocollo utilizzare per connetterti al tuo provider di posta elettronica IMAP or POP.

   • Con IMAP, Thunderbird si sincronizza costantemente con il server e mostra le email e le cartelle che sono al momento memorizzate sul server. IMAP è più adatto se accedi alle tue email da sistemi operativi differenti.

   • Con POP, Thunderbird scarica le email che sono nella posta in arrivo sul server ed eventualmente le cancella dal server. POP è più adatto se accedi alle tue email solo da Tails e le conservi nell'Archivio Persistente.

Migliore protezione della privacy

Thunderbird in Tails è configurato per fornire privacy e anonimato aggiuntivi.

Per esempio, Thunderbird in Tails:

• Rimuove dalle intestazioni delle email che invii le informazioni sulla lingua della tua sessione o del tuo correttore ortografico.
• Rimuove le informazioni che potrebbero identificarti come utente di Tails dalle intestazioni delle tue email.
• Consente solo protocolli sicuri e disabilita i protocolli non sicuri, come SSLv3.
• Disattiva le tecnologie di tracciamento, come i cookie e JavaScript, quando sono visualizzati messaggi di posta elettronica o feed in HTML.

These enhancements are inherited from the former TorBirdy extension.

Uso di Thunderbird nella tua lingua

To use Thunderbird in another language, you can install the thunderbird-l10n-lang package using the Additional Software feature. Replace lang with the code for your language. For example, es for Spanish or de for German.

Setting up a Primary Password (recommended)

In Thunderbird, OpenPGP private keys are not protected by a passphrase. That's why we recommend that you set up a Primary Password.

With a Primary Password, your private key is encrypted in your Thunderbird profile and is only unlocked while Thunderbird is running. If your Thunderbird profile is stored in your Persistent Storage, then your private key is encrypted twice: once by Thunderbird in your profile and a second time by the encryption of the Persistent Storage.

1. Choose  ▸ Settings.

2. Scegli Privacy & Sicurezza.

3. In the Passwords section, select the option Use a Primary Password.

4. In the Change Primary Password dialog, enter your Primary Password and click Ok.

Importare una chiave privata esistente

Thunderbird usa un portachiavi diverso da GnuPG.

Se hai già una chiave privata OpenPGP al di fuori di Thunderbird, segui le istruzioni qui sotto per esportarla da GnuPG e importarla su Thunderbird.

Exporta la tua chiave privata usando l'utilità Password e Chiavi

Dal desktop:

1. Choose Applications ▸ Utilities ▸ Passwords and Keys.

2. Nel riquadro a sinistra, seleziona GnuPG keys.

3. Nel riquadro a destra fai doppio clic sulla chiave privata che vuoi esportare e utilizzare con Thunderbird.

4. Nella scheda Dettagli della finestra di dialogo delle proprietà, fai clic su Esporta.

5. Salva la tua chiave privata nella cartella Home.

6. Chiudi lo strumento Password e Chiavi.

Importa la tua chiave privata su Thunderbird

Da Thunderbird:

1. Choose  ▸ Account Settings.

2. Nel riquadro a sinistra, individua l'account che corrisonde alla chiave privata che vuoi importare e seleziona End-to-End Encryption.

3. In the right pane, click the Add Key… button.

4. In the Create a Personal OpenPGP Key dialog, choose Import an existing OpenPGP Key and click Continue.

5. Click the Select File to Import… button and choose the private key that your exported from the Passwords and Keys utility.

6. Nella successiva finestra di dialogo verifica che la tua chiave privata sia nell'elenco e che l'opzione Considera questa chiave come Chiave Personale sia selezionata.

7. Clicca su Continua, inserisci la passphrase per la tua chiave privata (se presente) e clicca nuovamente su Continua.

   La tua chiave privata ora dovrebbe essere elencata nel file End-to-End Impostazioni di crittografia del tuo account.

8. Seleziona la tua chiave privata per abilitare la crittografia OpenPGP per questo account.

Crea una nuova chiave privata OpenPGP

1. Choose  ▸ Account Settings.

2. Nel riquadro a sinistra identifica l'account per il quale vuoi creare una nuova chiave privata OpenPGP e scegli Crittografia End-to-End.

3. In the right pane, click the Add Key… button.

4. In the Create a Personal OpenPGP Key dialog, choose Create a new OpenPGP Key.

5. Rivedi le impostazioni nella finestra di dialogo successiva, fai clic sul pulsante Genera chiave, quindi fai clic su Conferma.

   La tua chiave privata ora dovrebbe essere elencata nel file End-to-End Impostazioni di crittografia del tuo account.

Crittare una email

To prevent you from sending unencrypted emails by mistake, Thunderbird in Tails is configured with the option Enable encryption for new messages turned on by default in the account settings.

When composing an email:

• If the Encrypt toggle button is on, Thunderbird will encrypt the email before sending.

  Thunderbird warns you if you miss the key of some of the recipients or if you still have to accept some of their keys.

  Choose Security ▸ Key Assistant to see the keys of the receipts and solve any issue.

• To send an unencrypted email, turn off the Encrypt toggle button.
