There are many ways to contact us, depending on what you want to talk about.

All mailing lists are in English unless specified otherwise.

Public mailing lists

These mailing lists are public: subscription is open to anyone. Don't send compromising information. Please respect the code of conduct.

tails-support is the mailing list dedicated to Tails user support.

This list is the right place for:

  • User support: solving doubts about how to use Tails, security implications of Tails, etc.
  • Community interaction: information and tricks about ways of using Tails that are not officially documented but might be of interest to others.
  • Small issues: pointing out small things that we needed to fix and do not require a complete bug report. That's fine and we appreciate it.

This list is the wrong place for:

Public archive of tails-support:

amnesia-news is the mailing list where we send our news by email. It has a low traffic and it is the right place to stay up-to-date with the releases and security announcements.

tails-project is the mailing list where we discuss upcoming events, monthly reports, and other non-technical matters.

Public archive of tails-project:

tails-dev is the mailing list where the development work is coordinated and technical design questions are discussed. Subscribe if you want to contribute code.

tails-testers is the mailing list for people who want to help test new releases or features.

tails-ux is the list for matters related to user experience and user interface.

Translators coordinate on the tails-l10n mailing list (l10n stands for localization).

This is where important changes to translatable strings are announced. So, please subscribe to the list if you want to become a regular translator:

You can write encrypted emails to if you need help in private.

You can join our users chat room and developers chat room. Only a few Tails developers hang out there, so email is preferred for anything that might be of interest for the larger community.
